Festival of Trees Rocking Horse

The rocking horse is finished. The Festival is tomorrow night. We will be helping with the set up tonight and tomorrow and with the wrapping of the trees for delivery on Sunday. You can see more about the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild's tree on my page along with the rocking horse.

Hopefully the Family Crisis Center will do well and raise a nice amount of money for their projects.

Real Estate and Art

I worked some on my web page today. I'm trying to cut down on the clutter. It has grown into quite a large site and I think the important things may be getting lost. It is alway challenging to keep it updated and running smoothly.

Some of my hometown, Magdalena, New Mexico, art is being used on a real estate page. It is a beautiful site and an amazing house. You can take a peek here. Thank you, Matt, for using my work.

Let me know if you want to know more about Magdalena.

Rocking Horse

Remember to click on the photos for a larger image and feel free to comment and critique. I can take it!

I finished the painting of the rocking horse that will be a donation for the Festival of Trees. I conisider this tole painting as craft painting. It took many hours, as tole painting takes several coats of paint and varnish. I cannot imagine that crafters sell their wares as inexpensively as most do. I could have done a painting or two in the same amount of time. Ha. I painted some small rocking horses for a wreath to put around his neck. I will put some close ups of the painted parts and the whole finished product -- hopefully tomorrow evening.

Come on out to the Festival of Trees and bid on this item. :)

***Note
Here is a link to the sanded horse, I don't have one of the completely unfinished one. Drat.

Veterans Day - The Sentinels, oil painting

I called this painting, The Sentinels. When you look from the house to the flag by the mailbox, it looks like our tall loblolly pines are protecting the flag. The flag is such a patriotic symbol for me. When we were in South America and I would catch a glimpse of the U.S. flag flying at the Embassy, it made me so proud.

I meant to get this post up early this morning (Saturday, November 11, now it is the 12th already) and was sidetracked. I feel we owe so much to our military and their families. My brother was in the Army and was in the invasion of Normandy. His brother in law was in the Army and killed in Korea. Our son was a Marine, (well, once a Marine always a Marine), but is a civilian now. My spouse was in the Air Force. So to them all, I wish a Happy Veterans Day, and give thanks for their service.
