Fall World Series .. UT and more

The Longhorns won!! The Fall World Series was played at the Dell Diamond yesterday and today. It was a tie, the Orange won yesterday

and the White today.

Fun to see the new players and get them identified. Of course by January 27, I will have forgotten. You can check it out on Joanna's page and go further from there. Look at this sky last night.

It was great to see Carson Kainer coaching third and smiling.

I sketched a little corner of the stadium and some players just to say this is art related. :) With a Micron 05 in the small Strathmore sketchbook I carry in my purse.

More sketches for the scavenger hunt to follow.

And by the way for Janice, Yahoo for the St. Louis Cardinals -- they won their Series as well. :)

Back to the Hunt #15 (sketcing)

Wow, Scavenger Hunt 15 already.

Here is our fireplace. So much eclectic junk on top. Candlesticks, old clock, one of my paintings, sketches by Force, self photo of Larry at golf, copper flags, wooden madona (looks like a budda in the sketch, hmmm) and the weaving at the top from Peru. There is lots of junk on the hearth as well, but I ran out of steam by then and only wanted to spend 20 minutes or so on the sketch. It probably ran into 30 .. hard to tell how much time passes when you are having fun. It is in the Canson sketchbook, about 6 x 10 inches with a regular #2 pencil. This is my number 1 for the hunt, something made of rock.

National Center for Missing Adults

It has just come to my attention that the National Center for Missing Adults is in dire need of support and funds.

They were the main agency looking for and matching up adults during the Hurricane Katrina and Rita disasters. They matched thousands of people, working tirelessly with staff and volunteers.

Missing adults are someone's missing children.

Check out the blog of Kym and their page on the link above.

This is November 3 and I am adding a news story from USA Today.

Festival of Trees, Bastrop, Texas

The Family Crisis Center does great work for four counties of Texas. They help with victims of family violence, personal safety, anger management and so much more. This is one of the biggest and most popular of the fundraisers. A time to dress up, bid on wonderful Christmas/Holiday items. There will be 20+ large trees, fully decorated in themes by businesses and individuals that donate them for the occasion. It will be held in the new Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort and Spa just off Highway 71 between Bastrop and Austin.

A wonderful event to help families in our community. Come take part and get a head start on your decorating.

Lampost

I spent much of my "art" time putting PayPal on my website yesterday. So, late last night I was looking for something from the scavenger hunt list to sketch. Decided on the lampost out my studio window. This morning I showed it to Gene, my personal critic, and he said, "WHAT is that?" Therefore, I know you, that don't see the light every day, need a little clarification. The post out my window holds a dusk to dawn light and in the background you see the light at the street. You can see a little of the many trees and some light on the street from the dim light in between. Oh well, the practice is what counts. It was in my Canson sketchbook with a regular Pilot ball point pen.
